About Hanover

Events and Area Attractions

The Town of Hanover and surrounding region is a part of what is known as "The Upper Valley". This designation refers to a geographic area stretching along both sides of the Connecticut River in Central New Hampshire and Vermont. At the region's center are the towns of Hanover & Lebanon on the New Hampshire side and Hartford (White River Junction) & Norwich in Vermont.

Each Upper Valley town had its own distinctive character and beauty. Hanover is home to Dartmouth College (one of the Ivies and the ninth oldest college in the nation) and enjoys a lively, traditional business district and beautiful countryside.

Membership in The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce is drawn from the region as a whole and, in return, the Chamber is committed to the Upper Valley by promoting a healthy economy and a strong, vital community.

In this section you will find information for the traveler and visitor, a calendar of annual events, general resources for regional information and a piece, "What's Special about the Upper Valley", by Clint Bean, former President of Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce. These will give you an impression of what it's like to visit, reside in, or work in Hanover and the region.

For more information, contact or visit our office in downtown Hanover located across Main Street from the Post Office. Our Preferred Business and Community Resource Directory and Hanover-Norwich Area Map are available upon request. For a Relocation or Visitor Packet of area information ($10.00 s&h), you may call the HACC office at (603)643-3115, e-mail your request, or download and complete the Relocation Packet Request, and mail the form with payment to PO Box 5105, Hanover NH, 03755.
